Though 80-year-old Advani’s desire for the prime ministerial position has never been a secret, its announcement at this stage has sprung a surprise. Nevertheless, this definitely clarifies that if BJP wins the next parliamentary elections, scheduled for 2009, Advani will be the prime minister. This clearly signals Vajpayee, due to health-problems, is no more in the race.

Chicago Muslim Student Remembered

Cisse, a Muslim Ph.D. student in chemistry at the University and native of Dakar, Senegal, in Africa, was shot and killed early Monday morning. “He was an extremely gentle person, a very caring person,” said Czerny Brasuell, Director of Multicultural Affairs at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. Cisse worked closely with Brasuell during his four years as a student at Bates College. Cisse graduated from Bates College in 2001 with a B.S. degree in chemistry, physics and mathematics.

NEW DELHI – Fifteenth anniversary of Babari Masjid’s demolition last week (December 6) was marked by a mixed reaction across the country. In an article that appeared on worldnetdaily.com, I together with two other Muslims were maligned by an author who did not even disclose his name. In the article he quoted Steve Emerson, a well-known so-called expert on Islam who initially blamed Muslims for the Oklahoma bombing in 1994 to make the point that “the record of Aslam Abdullah’s comments during the past few years demonstrates an ideology of militant Islamic extremism.”
